Zoo - Yellow Snakeby ~kessalia

Shot at the reptile house of the Detroit Zoo this last weekend. Rather surprised it turned out as well as it did, concidering the environment.

That's NOT a python, so it's a good thing you COULDN'T take him home! That's an "Oropel", or yellow Eyelash Viper, and it's highly venomous! They are gorgeous, though, but rather difficult to care for even for experienced venomous snake keepers. I know a guy who had a big female, and he ended up getting bitten by her, and nearly died from the bite. He'd been bitten by a Mojave Rattler a few years before, and the Eyelash bite was much worse. These are definately "look but don't touch" snakes!

Ah well, he's pretty, but since i seem to be destined to remain snakeless it's a moot point, I guess. *L*

i SHOULD have been smart and shot a snap of his sign, so i had the info, but that would have made too much sense.
